Obituary of Matthew Seivert

Matthew P. Seivert, the son of Mathias and Sophia (Kuta) Seivert, was born on April 26, 1926 at Ashton, IA. Matt lived his youth and attended school in Ashton. While still living in Ashton, he worked for farmers in the area, and for a short time worked at Armors Egg Plant in Sheldon were he met his future wife, Gertrude.
On February 1, 1952 Matt was united in marriage to Gertrude DeKruif and they were blessed with four children: Sharyn, Robert, Dennis, and Loretta. They made their home in Sanborn, where Matt went to work at AMPI in December of 1956. In 1988, he retired and was recognized with a plaque for 32 years of service to AMPI and a pin for 29 years of accident-free driving.
Matt enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, going to dinner date, fishing, visiting Bob’s cabin at the Lakes, driving around, feeding the goldfinches, and watching football and baseball. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Sanborn. Matt passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on November 29, 2007 at the age of 81.
Survivors include his children and their families: Sharyn and her husband Ron Sheriff of Everly, IA, Bob and his wife Nella Seivert of Harlan, IA, Dennis and his wife Barb Seivert of Renner, SD, and Loretta and her husband Harlan Laubach of Sanborn, IA; seven grandchildren: Venus (Kent) Dreyer of Harlan, IA, Erin Seivert of Denver, CO, Bobby Seivert of Harlan, IA, Kailee Seivert of Renner, SD, Nathan Seivert of Renner, SD, Amber (John) Kleve of Sanborn, IA, and Courtney Laubach of Sanborn, IA; one brother Doug Seivert of Sheldon, IA, and one sister Angie Kruger of Round Lake, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Gert; two brothers Martin (in infancy) and Gerald, and one sister Marie.
