Obituary of Carla Beckman

Memorial Tribute Carla Jean (Miller) Beckman was born in Sanborn, IA on April 1, 1932, the daughter of Mabel Fern (Miller) Block, and raised by Guy and Bertha (Leider) Miller. She grew up in Sanborn, and graduated from Sanborn Community High School. On Valentine’s Day 1951, she was united in marriage to Gene Earl Beckman in Des Moines, IA. The couple lived and raised their four children in Sanborn. Carla was a busy mom, grandma and great-grandma who adored her family and loved to spoil them all with some of her good “home-cooking”. What a wonderful cook she was! In addition to caring for her family, she once worked as a waitress at Jay's Restaurant and Pike Cafe, a clerk at a local convenience store, and as a certified nurse’s aide at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn. She was a member of St. Andrew’s UMC, and was currently serving on the Evangelism and Outreach Committee. Carla passed away at the Primghar Rehabilitation and Care Center on September 20, 2007 at the age of 75. Left to cherish her memory are her children and their families: Brad (Rhonda) Beckman of Faribault, MN, Beci (Greg) Jacobsma, Shelli (Jerry) Niichel and Suzi (Bob) Epping all of Sanborn; her grandchildren: Bruce and Tracy Jacobsma, Ryan and Becky Jacobsma, Trafton and Angie Beckman, Jamie Niichel, Jeremy and Jill Niichel, Jodi and Matt Lange, Kristin Jacobsma, Seth Beckman, Lisa Epping, Greg Jacobsma Jr., special friends of the family Roger Sharp and Jayme Hoisington, great-grandchildren: Brook, Jolyn, Joshi, Dalton, Kayl, Jason, Keevyn, Camron, Dawson and Addison; two brothers Roger Miller of Auburn, GA and Ernie (Nancy) Block of Kansas City, MO; one sister Leisa (Alan) Kratunis of Lake Villa, IL; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gene, brothers Delbert Miller and Stanley Block, and sisters Leona Kruger Gruenewald and Bernice Gruenewald.
