Obituary of Harold Boneschans

Harold William Boneschans, the son of Henry and Bertha (Lyle) Boneschans, was born on May 10, 1931 at Sibley, IA. He lived his youth on a farm near Sanborn, where he attended country school. On December 5, 1951, he was united in marriage to Arleen Solsma at the First Reformed Church in Sanborn. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Sanborn, where Harold worked for the creamery until 1956. They then moved to California and raised their three daughters, Ruth, Ronda and Roxana. Harold worked in the Dairy Industry for a number of years. In 1981, Harold and Arleen moved back to Iowa and opened the Sanborn Drive-In. In 1984 they returned to California where Harold worked in sales until his retirement. They moved back to Sanborn in 1996, and eventually settled in Melvin, IA. Due to his failing health, Harold entered the Prairie View Nursing Home in May of 2007, and passed away there on June 27 at the age of 76. Harold was a wonderful cook, and passed the skill on to his daughters. He also enjoyed camping and gardening, especially flowers. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sanborn. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Arleen; three daughters and their families: Ruth and her husband, Jay Ter Keurst of Victorville, CA, Ronda Graves of Riverside, CA, and Roxana Boneschans of Salinas, CA; nine grandchildren: Christine, Jason, Tami, Amy, Megan, Geoffery, Shawn, Brian and Shannon; and nine great-grandchildren: Samantha, Sonora, Kathey, Ashley, Christian, Taylor, C.J., Emily and Alec; four brothers: Robert, Sr. of Melvin, Donald of Florida, Douglas of Bigelow, MN, and Dennis of Corona, CA; two sisters, Judy Lemon of Wisconsin and Joyce Femells of North Dakota; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dale and Garry, and eight half-brothers and sisters.
