Obituary of Jose Castillo

Memorial Tribute José Mauro Castillo Jr. Gonzales was born on February 23, 1995 in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at the age of 20. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in May City, Iowa. José attended school at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School, graduating with the class of 2013. He continued his education at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, Iowa to pursue a career in welding. José was a smiley, young man who never failed to put a smile on other people’s faces. He enjoyed going on different “adventures” with his friends or family. Not a day would go by when he wasn’t outside kicking a soccer ball. He enjoyed watching soccer just as much; occasionally watching Manchester United and other international teams. Playing video games or watching videos on his tablet were also some of his favorite pastimes. He dreamed of graduating from college, being a successful welder and finding a good, paying job. He also envisioned himself having a happy family farm as he grew older. José also enjoyed riding the family dirt bike. Riding it just made him feel happy. He enjoyed speaking to, and video calling various family members. José always wanted to leave an impression in people’s hearts, and make a positive difference in their lives. José leaves behind his parents, José Sr. and Martha Castillo; three siblings: Jesse, Azucena, and Martha Valentina; aunts and uncles: Dora Castillo, Rafael Torres, Gabino Castillo, Lucia Loza, Herli Castillo, Diana Castillo; cousins: Nancy Castillo, Josue Castillo, Nohemi Castillo, Rafael Jr. Castillo, Diana Castillo, Lidia Castillo, Octavio Loza, Rosalyn Castillo, and Marilyn Castillo; grandparents: José Castillo, Maria Castillo Mendez, Bernandina Sanchez, and Filemon Gonzales; a very close friend who was like a member of the family Viola Harms who passed in August of 2012; and many close friends and neighbors.
