Obituary of Patrick Strait

Memorial Tribute Patrick "Pat" Michael Strait was born September 24, 1954 at Sanborn, IA, the son of Joseph V. and Marley A. (Fink) Strait. He spent his early years growing up in Kansas City, MO. When he entered 5th Grade, his family moved to Sanborn, IA where he continued his education, graduating from Sanborn High School in 1972. Pat was united in marriage to Darla Verrips at the First Presbyterian Church in Sanborn on November 29, 1975. Following their marriage, Pat was employed with Sorensen Farm Drainage from 1975 to 1992. He then worked for the City of Hartley from 1992 to the present. When Pat could find time to get away, he somehow always ended up outdoors, with either a fishing pole or shotgun in his hand. He loved to go duck or goose hunting, and when the weather was favorable, there were plenty of fish to be caught. For a change of pace, Pat would sometimes move his talent to the golf course; he was as adept with a golf club as he was with a gun. He was a great golfer and was always willing to help someone else figure out how to improve their game. Pat appreciated nature, and loved being outdoors. He passed from this life on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the age of 60. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Darla of Hartley, IA; his son, Joe Strait of Des Moines, IA; mother-in-law, Madonna Feyerabend of Sanborn, IA; brothers-in-law: Dan (Becky) Verrips of Adkins, TX, David (Lisa) Verrips of LaVernia, TX; sister-in-law, Ann Strait of Spencer, IA; step-brothers: Kurt Hoekstra, and Kraig Hoekstra; step-sisters: Karen Dinius, and Karla Duke; special friends and neighbors, Luke and Kara, Emma and Lexi Schmillen; nieces and their families; other relatives and many friends. Preceding him in death were his father, Joe; his mother, Marley; brother, Jody; sister, Denise; his niece, Samantha and his step-father, Harold. Celebration of Life Patrick M.
