Obituary of Ruth Schiphoff

Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Memorial Tribute Ruth Mae Schiphoff was born on May 27, 1942 at Platte, SD to Nicholas and Emma (Dyk) Bultsma. She spent her youth in rural Platte along with her brother, Cleo, and sister, Helena. She graduated from Dakota Christian High School in New Holland, SD, and then furthered her education at the School of Practical Nursing in Mitchell, SD. On January 18, 1963, Ruth was united in marriage to Andrew Schiphoff at the Christian Reformed Church in Platte. Four children were born to this union: Nic O' Lena, Jay, Daphne, and Dixon. Following their marriage, Ruth continued nursing and helping Andy out on the farm until Nicie was born. They farmed together in the Harris and May City, IA areas, and maintained a dairy herd as well. Later, when they sold their herd, Ruth worked part-time at the Westview Dairy. She and Andy retired from farming in 2010 and moved into the town of Sibley, IA. In January, 2014, Ruth moved to the Sibley Nursing and Rehab Center where she passed from this life on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the age of 73. Ruth thoroughly enjoyed her years on the farm, helping Andy with milking the cows and feeding new-born calves. When she wasn't outside doing chores, she'd be in the kitchen, baking something special for her family to eat. Keeping in touch with friends and loved ones was important to Ruth, as evidenced by the many letters she penned over the years. Yet, her greatest delight came from being with her family, and caring for her dear grandchildren. Ruth was a member of the First Reformed Church at Melvin, IA where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the RCW. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Nicie and her husband, Larry Bosch, Dylan, Brandon and Jordan of Steen, MN, daughter-in-law, Anita (Petersen) Schiphoff, and son, David Brinkman of Harris, IA; Daphne and her husband, Randy Bremer, Dalten and Tayler of Ocheyedan, IA, Dixon and Kari (Soden) Schiphoff, Colton, Dawson, and Lawton of Hartley, IA; her sister, Helena Haenel of Janesville, WI; her brother, Cleo (Kathy) Bultsma of Platte, SD; other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Nicholas and Emma Bultsma; her husband, Andrew Schiphoff; and her son, Jay Schiphoff.
