Obituary of Quentin L. Taylor

Quentin Lawrason Taylor, the son of Orville and Mearl (Dahnke) Taylor was born on July 16, 1922 on a farm southwest of Hartley. He was baptized on September 4, 1922 and confirmed on May 15, 1938 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley, IA. He attended grade school in Lincoln Township and graduated from the Hartley High School in 1939. Following his school years Quentin started farming with his dad. On June 20, 1945 he was united in marriage to Luella Mae Mayer at St. John's Lutheran Church in May City, IA. Following their marriage the couple lived on several farms before moving to their farm four miles west of Hartley where they raised their family. Quentin was a certified Seed Grower for 35 years. He served on the Iowa Crop Improvement Board for three years, the O'Brien County FHA Board for 11 years, was a Township Trustee for nine years and an Associated Milk Producers delegate for nine years. He and Luella moved into Hartley in 1984 and retired in 1985. Quentin moved into the Prairie View Nursing Home on March 21, 2012 and passed away there on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the age of 92. Left to cherish his memory are his six children and their spouses: Gregory (Sue) Taylor of Coolige, AZ, Rodney (Pat) Taylor of Brooklyn Park, MN, Stanley (Pat) Taylor of Indianola, IA, Roann Ray of Rockford, IL, Monette (Paul) Lundquist of Ponsford, MN and Bradley (Cindy) Taylor of Hartley, IA; 11 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Ruth (Lueck) Handy, of Golden Valley, MN, Marge (Taylor) Paulsen of Sanborn, IA, and Joan Taylor of Hartley, IA; other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife of 68 years, Luella, on March 29, 2014; son-in-law, Erwin Ray on November 5, 2007; brothers-in-law: Stanley Lueck, Dick Handy, Lynford Taylor and Gaylord Taylor.
