Obituary of Lois Luton

Lois Emma Luton, daughter of John Christian and Elsie Christina (Schuster) Brandt, was born at Melvin, IA on October 22, 1920. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Lois spent her childhood years on the family farm 2½ miles northwest of Melvin and attended the Melvin School. Besides helping her parents on the farm, Lois worked for several families in the Melvin area. On August 21, 1948, Lois was united in marriage to Dean Luton at the American Lutheran Church in Melvin. They lived their entire married life in the town of Melvin, and were avid spectators at all the Melvin basketball, softball and baseball games. When Dean retired in 1991, they enjoyed going on several sight-seeing bus tours together. Lois passed away at Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn, IA, on January, 22, 2013 at the age of 92. Left to cherish her memory are two sisters: Agnes Krager of Sanborn, and Dorothy Tesch of Paullina; one brother, Harold (Francine) Brandt of Sanborn; three sisters-in-law: Deltha Brandt, Illene Brandt both of Sanborn, and Ruth Brandt of Sheldon; many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Arnold “Bud”, Lloyd, Arlin, and John Jr.; two sisters: Margaret Dagel and Betty Brandt; one sister-in-law, Kathryn Brandt; three brothers-in-law: Richard Dagel, Edwin Krager; and Wallace Tesch; several nephews: Celebration of Life Lois E.
