Obituary of Larry Beimers

Larry Beimers was born in Downey, CA on November 7, 1938, to Paul and Jesse (Haagsma) Beimers. His childhood years were spent in northwest Iowa where he attended Sibley Christian Grade School, and graduated from Western Christian High School. He later completed two years of community college. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956 until 1959. On October 24, 1959, he was united in marriage to Linda Jean Schuurmans in Grand Rapids, MI. They made their home in Cutlerville, MI, where he worked as an aviation electrician. They then moved to Phoenix, AZ, and Larry spent 25 years as a member of the Phoenix Police Department, retiring as a Lieutenant in 1986. Following his retirement, they returned to the Midwest and made their home in Archer, IA. Larry was a "people person". Everyone who met him liked him—especially his "dry" sense of humor. He liked reading, crossword puzzles and Sudoku. He thoroughly enjoyed watching sports of all kinds. He looked forward to fishing trips with his family and friends, and coffee time with his buddies. He was a member of the Sanborn Christian Reformed Church and the Fraternal Order of Police. After years of struggling with health issues, Larry passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 22, 2012, having reached the age of 74 years, 15 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons Barry Lee Beimers and Paul Simon Beimers, and a grandson, Larry Michael Thomas. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda; one son Nick Beimers and his wife Leann of Phoenix, AZ, and one daughter Susan Friedrichsen of Spencer, IA; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; his sister, Elaine and her husband, Lee Ten Napel of Sibley, IA; other relatives and friends.
