Obituary of Van Ravenswaay

Leola Faith (Riemersma) Van Ravenswaay, the daughter of Wilbur and Theresa (Beimers) Riemersma, was born in Sibley, IA on April 16, 1949. She attended country school and later public school in Sioux Center, IA, graduating in 1967. On April 24, 1968, she was united in marriage to Arlen Van Ravenswaay at the Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Following the marriage, they lived in Colorado Springs, CO for a year during Arlen’s service in the military. They returned to Sioux Center where they lived until 1984, and then made their home in Sanborn, IA. It was there that they raised their four children, Pamela, Mark, Tricia and Michael. Leola enjoyed camping, scrapbooking, reading and playing games with her family. She was a member of the First Reformed Church where she taught Sunday school and was a part of the RCWM Guild. She served as Legion Auxiliary President. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandma. She passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012, as a result of a motor vehicle accident near Spencer, IA. She was preceded in death by her father, Wilbur Riemersma and her father-in-law, Richard J. Van Ravenswaay. She leaves behind her husband, Arlen; her children and their families: Pamela and Brian Hamberger, Brynlyn and Emma of Yankton, SD, Mark Van Ravenswaay, Isabel and Isaac of Wagner, SD, Tricia and Jake Elgersma, Trinity, Jasmine, Jordan and Graham Lux and Michael and Crystal Van Ravenswaay, Layne, Piper and Cameryn, all of Sanborn; her mother, Theresa Riemersma of Sioux Center; her brothers, Randy (Nancy) Riemersma of Willmar, MN, Larry (Ruth) Riemersma and Halvern (Judy) Riemersma, all of Sioux Center, IA; her sister, Beth (Gary) Maas of Corsica, SD; other relatives and many friends.
