Obituary of Arnold Stallmann

Arnold William Stallmann the son of Vincent and Margaret (Niichel) Stallmann was born near Hospers, IA on July 27, 1929. Arnold spent his younger years in the Hospers, Granville and Archer areas where he attended school. Following his school years he enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Catherine Horst on August 2, 1954, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Sanborn, IA. To this union four children were born, William, Shirley, Jim and Margaret. Following their marriage the couple lived in Hartley, IA until moving to a farm southwest of Sanborn where they were engaged in farming for many years. Arnold worked for 10 years for the AMPI Creamery in Sanborn, IA. He moved to the Prairie View Nursing Home in Sanborn on March 2, 2009 and passed away there on October 11, 2010 at the age of 81. Arnold was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church. He loved to garden, especially growing hollyhocks and tomatoes. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine; children, William Stallmann of Sanborn, Shirley Klatt of Sheldon, IA, Jim Stallmann and his wife, Judy, of Sanborn, and Margaret Smith and her husband, Carter, of Farnhamville, IA; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Stallmann and his wife, Jenny, of Hartley, IA; other relatives and friends. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Stallmann, a granddaughter Judith Klatt, and his in-laws, Charlie and Geneva Horst.
