Julianne Susan “Julie” (Breffle) Stofferan was born July 28, 1950, to Robert “Bob” and Violet (White) Breffle. She lived her youth in Lake Park, IA and received her education in the Harris Lake Park school district. In 1968, Julie married the love of her life, Bill Stofferan. This union was blessed with four children: Reece (1968), David (1970), Shawn (1972), and Suzy (1980).

    Early in their marriage, Bill and Julie lived in various towns in the area, but officially made Sanborn, IA, their home in 1977. For most of her life, Julie was a full-time homemaker and mother, but she had held various jobs as well. She did custodial work for the post office in Sanborn, was a clerk at Sanborn Foods, and for many years, was the bookkeeper for her husband and son’s trucking company until she retired.

    Julie was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church and was very active in her younger years, volunteering where she was needed and playing piano. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, baking and decorating for holidays, with Halloween and Christmas being her favorites. She also loved shopping - especially the thrill of finding a good deal! She enjoyed camping trips, playing cards and board games and tending to her flower garden, but nothing could compare to spending time with her family; gathering for family meals, birthdays, and holidays. Those get-togethers brought her so much joy and laughter. Julie had the “gift of gab” and always welcomed visitors and friends to her home for a cup of fresh coffee.

    On Saturday, May 2, 2026, Julie left this world surrounded by her dear family in the comfort of her own home. Blessed to cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Bill; her children: Reece Stofferan (Jennifer Bentz) of Sanborn, IA, David Stofferan of Sioux Falls, SD, Shawn Stofferan of Worthington, MN, and Suzy (Andrew) Schensted of Lakefield, MN; grandchildren: Ashley (Javier) Villalpando and Michael Stofferan all of Sioux City, IA, Jessica Stofferan of Sanborn, IA, Kayla Stofferan of Lakefield, MN, Blake Stofferan of Hawarden, IA, Alex Koster of Fargo, ND, Nathan Stofferan of Sanborn, IA, Ethan Koster, Lucy and Theo Schensted all of Lakefield, MN; great-grandchildren: Bryson and Braxton Stofferan of Sanborn, IA; her sister, Brenda (Alan) Lanphere; brothers-in-law: Marty Stofferan, Jim (Kim) Stofferan, Don Hinkey, Robert (Valarie) Stofferan, Fred (Deb) Stofferan, Morris Stofferan, John Stofferan, Joe Stofferan, Mike (Sharon) Stofferan, and Andy (Gwen) Stofferan; sisters-in-law: Jennie Olson, Shirley (Norb) Groff, and Betty (Randy) White; many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, and not to forget – her kitty companion, Tigger.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Harold and Pat Stofferan; brothers: Bob Breffle, Byron Breffle, and Jim Breffle; her sister, Judy Breffle; sisters-in-law: Lorrianne Stofferan, Alice Hinkey, Sandy Stofferan, and Nancy Breffle.
