Harold LaVern Kramme Obituary

Harold LaVern Kramme, son of Erwin Lewis and Mildred Clara (Uhe) Kramme, was born October 6, 1933, in Hartley, Iowa. He spent his youth in Hartley where he attended school, graduating from Hartley High School with the class of 1951.

From 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1958, Harold served his country with the United States Army. On October 4,1959, he was united in marriage to Beverly Morfitt at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hartley. They spent the majority of their married life in rural Hartley where Harold was engaged in farming. They raised their three children here and called it “home” for 63 years. Along with farming responsibilities, Harold was also employed with Thermogas in his early married life, but the bulk of his time was given to agriculture. He retired from farming in the 1990’s.

For entertainment, Harold enjoyed playing cards with friends, fishing, camping and watching the IOWA Hawkeyes. He had a great affinity for dogs, yet nothing could come close to the love he had for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On Monday, January 19, 2026, Harold passed from this life at the age of 92 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Kramme (2023); his parents, Erwin and Mildred Kramme; parents-in-law, Elmo and Hannah Morfitt; and brothers-in-law: Bill Pierson and Jerry Morfitt.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Sheri (John) Drahota of McGregor, Minnesota, Cyndi (Jay) Sandholm and Monte (Angi) Kramme all of Sheldon Iowa; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ed (Judy) Kramme of Osage Iowa; one sister, Bette Pierson of Estherville, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
