Donna Sue (Van Bruggen) Kleinwolterink, the daughter of Ted and Eunice (Gesink) Van Bruggen, was born June 13, 1960, in Sioux Center, Iowa. She attended Sioux Center Christian School and Western Christian High School, where she met the love of her life, David Kleinwolterink. They married on August 18, 1976 and recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary.
Dave and Donna made their life together in Sibley, Iowa. Five children made their family complete: Amos, April, Ethan, Kendra and Kelsey. Donna worked side by side with Dave’s entrepreneurial ventures: vending machine routes across Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota, and A&A Industries (manufacturing model airplane kits.) Together they also opened Van’s Insurance of Sibley. More than all these ventures Donna loved her 29 years of working at Osceola Community Hospital, both at the front desk and then as an executive assistant. Donna would be the first to tell you that what she loved most about her job were the people she worked with.
Donna had a very strong faith and enjoyed being part of the church family at First Reformed Church of Sibley. For many years, she belonged to a Bible study group, creating a dear circle of friends; she had cherished their time together in study and prayer. She will always be remembered for her kindness and love which were displayed most of all in her role as a wife, mother, grandma and great-grandma. She found such joy being with her family and especially loved creating special memories and traditions with her children and grandchildren.
Donna walked through her November 2024 cancer diagnosis with strength, courage, humor and most of all her faith. She looked forward to knowing Jesus had prepared a place for her, where she would be fully healed again. She held closely to the promise of Isaiah 26:3, “He will keep in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee; because (s)he trusts in thee.”
On Thursday, August 21, 2025, Donna passed from this life at the age of 65 years. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dave Kleinwolterink of Sibley, IA; children: Amos (Heather) Kleinwolterink of Sibley, IA, April (Brian) Blair of Shakopee, MN, Ethan Kleinwolterink of Orange City, IA, Kendra (Tyler) Janssen of Prior Lake, MN, and Kelsey (Matt) Bodensteiner of New Hope, MN; grandchildren: Georgia (Riely) Heimark, Eric Kleinwolterink, Skipper Kleinwolterink, Aiden Blair, Caleb Blair and Finnley Janssen; great-grandchild, Blossom Heimark; her father, Ted Van Bruggen of Sioux Center, IA; siblings: Doug (Hedy) Van Bruggen of Sioux Center, IA, Dyxie Van Bruggen of Bend, OR, Todd (Jennifer) Van Bruggen of Sioux Center, IA and Tim (Cheryl) Van Bruggen of Tea, SD; eight nieces and nephews and their families; other relatives and dear friends.
Preceding her in death were her mother, Eunice Van Bruggen; and loving in-laws, Edwin and Emilene Kleinwolterink.
