Obituary of Dean Allen Cronk

Please share a memory of Dean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dean Allen Cronk, son of George Albert Cronk and Bonnie Jean (Griffith) Seifert, was born March 18, 1963 at Trimont, Minnesota. He spent his youth in the Emmetsburg and Mason City, Iowa areas where he received his education, graduating from Mason City High School with the class of 1982.

On August 26, 1995, Dean was united in marriage to Tammy Lee Ann Shatzer at the First Assembly of God in Mason City, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Mason City, Hampton and Newton, Iowa, relocating in 2001 to Tennessee where Dean was employed as a correctional officer, a warehouse worker, and a tattoo artist. In 2006, they moved back to the midwest, living in Waukon, then Harpers Ferry, Iowa, and finally settling in Hartley, Iowa. Dean was used to traveling and seeing the country, being a truck driver for Meerdink, Inc. He enjoyed riding motorcycle and being in the wide-open spaces. He also had a musical talent, and found pleasure playing guitar and singing. Yet the most treasured times were spent in the company of family and friends. Of all the places he had lived, he still considered First Assembly of God in Mason City his "home church". Dean passed suddenly from this life on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at the age of 55.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents: Ernest and Esther Griffith, and George and Ruth Cronk; his father, George Cronk; step-father, Terry McMurray; an infant brother, Darrell Cronk; and a nephew, LeRoy Webster.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Tammy of Hartley, Iowa; children and their spouses: Cass (Marilyn Fredricks) Cronk, Josh (RaeGene) Hovenga, Kyle (Dale Feazell) Ries, and Cherokee Cronk; seven grandchildren: Sebastian, A.J., Janaeyia, Alexa, Emma, Mia, and Natalie; one great-grandchild, Joey; his mother, Bonnie (Scott) Seifert; mother and father-in-law, Virginia Shatzer and Carroll Shatzer; brothers: Doug (Dawn) Barragy, Todd (Kim) McMurray, Troy McMurray, and Don (Crystal) Webster; sisters: Betty (Bill) Knoke, Beverly (Kevin) Callison, Dawn Cronk (Jeff Hopkins); sisters-in-law, Lisa Shatzer, Martha (Jeff) Duncan; 21 nieces and nephews; 46 great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
