Obituary of Ver Hoef

Howard John Ver Hoef, the son of James and Katherine (Soslma) Ver Hoef was born on July 11, 1923 on a farm north of Sanborn, Iowa. He spent his childhood years in the Sanborn area, graduating from O’Brien County Public School in 1939. Howard was united in marriage to Melva Saunders on August 9, 1949, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. Following their marriage, Howard and Melva resided on a farm northeast of Sanborn. They moved into the town of Sanborn in the early 1980’s. In September of 2004, Howard entered the Prairie View Nursing Home to be near Melva. Melva passed away on August 7, 2005. Howard continued to live at Prairie View until the time of his passing on May 16, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Melva; two brothers, John and Bertus. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Shirley Ver Hoef of Artesia, CA; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Howard was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sanborn. He enjoyed nature and especially loved spending time on the farm. He always had time to visit with family and friends.
