Obituary of Irene Shuck

Irene Loretta (Blomberg) Shuck, the daughter of Charles W. and Maggie L. (Covvey) Blomberg, was born on December 27, 1923 in Union County, SD. She spent her childhood years in Alcester, SD, and graduated from Alcester High School. On January 2, 1943 she was united in marriage to Clinton C. Shuck at Lincoln, NE. After WWII, the couple farmed in the Alcester area until 1958. They then moved to Humphrey, NE where Clinton worked as a block supervisor for Farmer’s Hybrid Co. They moved to Sutherland in 1959, to Archer in 1968, and Sheldon in 1969. Clinton passed away in 1989. Since that time, Irene lived in Sheldon and Sanborn. Irene was a loving mother to her five children. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, and made many of her family’s clothes. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sanborn, and its mission church—Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sheldon. Survivors include her children and their families: Larry and Ardith Shuck of Hartley, IA, Daryl and Kathy Shuck of Oklahoma City, OK, Charlene and Dennis Jalas of Sutherland, IA, Sheryl and Allen Bonderman of Atlantic, IA, and Ronald and Beth Shuck of Sheldon, IA; 10 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Clinton, one brother, Milo, and five sisters: Clara, Rosella, Edith, Margaret and Mildred
