Obituary of Wilma Knock

Wilma Jean (Schaefer) Knock, the daughter of Clarence and Vera (Arnburg) Schaefer was born on October 20, 1937 in Guthrie County Iowa near Adair, IA. She spent her youth there and later moved with her family to Hartley, IA where she attended school, graduating from Hartley Public High School in 1955. On August 5, 1959, she was united in marriage to Marlo Knock at the American Lutheran Church in Melvin, IA. The couple was blessed with one child, a son named Brent. Wilma worked as a secretary for the Hartley School system and later became the secretary for the American Lutheran Church for many years. She and Marlo lived on acreage southeast of Melvin where they made a living farming for over 40 years. Wilma passed away on March 15, 2007 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Wilma was a long-time member of the American Lutheran Church at Melvin where she served as church secretary, Sunday school teacher, church council board member and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a wonderful cook and gardener. She loved spending time with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren. Wilma enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and canning. Survivors include her husband: Marlo of Melvin, IA; a son: Brent Knock and his wife, Jessica, of Royal, IA, two grandchildren: Tari and Justice of Royal, IA; a brother: Darrel Schaefer of Pella, IA; two sisters: Thelma Wiser and her husband, Gerald, of Griswold, IA, and Marilyn Jorgensen and her husband, Ronald, of Green Valley, AZ; other relatives and many friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother: Ronald Schaefer; step father: Clifford Hoff and step mother: Fern Schaefer.
