Obituary of Van Meeteren

Memorial Tribute Mary Elizabeth "Mary Beth" Van Meeteren, daughter of Phillip "Phil" and Mary Louise "Dolly" (Nonneman) Kaiser, was born in Primghar, IA on September 1, 1957. She spent her youth on a farm southeast of Melvin, IA along with her two sisters, Kris and Kathy. She received her education at Melvin Community School, graduating with the class of 1975. Following high school, Mary Beth continued her education at Northwest Iowa Technical College in Sheldon, IA. She obtained employment with Chase Bag Company in Sibley, IA, then at Sanborn Savings Bank in Sanborn, IA where she worked for 21 years. Currently, she was employed with KF Murphy Company in Sheldon, IA. On June 4, 1976, Mary Beth was united in marriage to Keith William Van Meeteren at the American Lutheran Church in Melvin, IA. The couple lived in Melvin until moving to their farm west of Sanborn in 1980. They were blessed with one son, Karson Keith, on September 3, 1985. Along with her work, Mary Beth enjoyed being a mother and taking care of her family. Many leisurely weekends in the summer were spent together at their place on Center Lake. After Karson grew up and married, her joy was doubled by the birth of two precious grandsons. The road to Ames was traveled as often as possible to spend time with the little boys. Mary Beth had just given Owen his very own quilt, and Cooper's is still in the making getting his name embroidered. She enjoyed being with her family, and cherished the time they had together. She passed from this life on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the age of 58. Preceding her in death were her parents, Phil and Dolly Kaiser; her mother and father-in-law, William "Bill" and Esther Van Meeteren; and her nephew, Scott Beek. Left to love and cherish her memory are her husband, Keith of Sanborn, IA; her son, Karson, his wife, Sara, and grandsons, Owen Keith and Cooper William all of Ames, IA; sisters: Kris (Lance) Sorensen of Sanborn, IA, and Kathy (Dennis) Noble of Saginaw, MI; nephew, Jamie and son, Cota Noble also of Saginaw, MI; sister and brother-in-law, Darla and Danny Beek of Melvin, IA; her niece, Amy Beek of Sioux Falls, SD; other relatives and many friends.
