Obituary of Ardella Hinkey

Memorial Tribute Ardella Kathryn Hinkey, the daughter of Herman and Katherine (Andersen) Kunst was born October 9, 1927 at Mankato, Minnesota. She passed away on April 28, 2016 in Sheldon, Iowa at the age of 88 years. Ardella was united in marriage to William Hinkey on November 1, 1947 at Jackson, Minnesota. To this union two children were born: a daughter, Sharron, and a son, Donald. For the next 40 years, Ardella and William made their home in Hartley, Iowa and raised their family there. Over the years, Ardella had various occupations. She worked as an egg candler at Fairmont's, was employed at the local bakery, and was a bartender/owner of Hinkey's Tavern in Hartley, Iowa. Following William's passing in 1981, she moved to Melvin, Iowa where she has resided for the past 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Katherine; all her siblings; and her husband, William. She is survived by her daughter, Sharron Wels of Mankato, Minnesota; her son, Donald Hinkey and wife, Alice of Melvin, Iowa; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartley, Iowa, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will take place at the church prior to the service on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery near Hartley, Iowa.
