Obituary of Gladys Prins

Please share a memory of Gladys to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Memorial Tribute Gladys Joyce Prins, daughter of Gerrit and Kate (Van Oort) Post, was born on a farm near Middleburg in Sioux County, IA on March 30, 1925. She attended country school through the 8th grade, moving with her parents to a farm near Hartley, IA in 1936. On July 24, 1943, Gladys was united in marriage to Conrad Prins of Sanborn, IA at the Church of the Roses in Chula Vista, CA. The couple was blessed with four children: Dennis, Bruce, Cheryl, and Bryan. At the time they were married, Con was serving his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Being stationed at San Diego, CA, Gladys stayed there with him until his honorable discharge when they moved back to Sanborn. Gladys was kept busy raising their children, being involved with their school activities and being a full-time homemaker. With Con busy at work, she was the cohesive force that held the family together and made their home a warm, loving place to be. Gladys also served in her community being a member of the Federated Women's Club, and serving on the Sanborn Public Library Board. In later years, she and Con enjoyed traveling together - not only in the United States, but to foreign countries as well, creating lots of wonderful memories and making new acquaintances. Gladys thoroughly enjoyed time spent outdoors, whether it was gardening or tending her beautiful flower beds. When she got together with friends, it usually ended up with a rousing game of cards. She belonged to the First Reformed Church in Sanborn where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Women's Circle. Gladys passed from this life on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the age of 90. Preceding her in death were her husband, Con in 2015; her parents, Gerrit and Kate Post; two brothers, LeRoy Post and Harvey Post; and a sister in infancy. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dennis (Diana) Prins of Sanborn, IA, Bruce (Corrine) Prins of Sisseton, SD, Cheryl (Ken) Walter of Brandon, SD, and Bryan (Sheila) Prins of Sisseton, SD; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, John Post of Sanborn, IA; sisters: Irma Jacobson and Jean Olhausen both of Hartley, IA, and Glenda Schroeder of Pine, CO; other relatives and many friends.
