Obituary of Ramona Schmidt

Ramona May Kunkel, the adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Dean, was born May 8, 1932 in Menno, South Dakota. She spent her youth in the Scotland, South Dakota area where she graduated with the class of 1950. She was united in marriage to Charles Schmidt, also of Scotland, on September 23, 1951. They were blessed with two sons, Mark and Phil. Ramona was a stay-at-home mom and housewife which she enjoyed and tended to with love. She liked to refer to herself as a "domestic engineer". Ramona was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed reading and doing puzzles in her spare time. She passed away at the Primghar Rehabilitation and Care Center in Primghar, Iowa on September 26, 2013, at the age of 81. Survivors include Charles, her husband of 62 years; son, Mark, of Taneytown, Maryland and son, Phillip from Earlham, Iowa and his wife Valarie; three grandchildren: Daniel and Allen, sons of Phil and Valarie; and a granddaughter, Jennifer, daughter of Mark. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren and one-great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents Amos and Augusta Dean.
